Soldering on…
I can't make many of the tools of my trade myself. Custom pliers, bread boards, and soldering irons are a bit beyond my means of production. Every so often I have the opportunity to put together a custom cable, and I relish these opportunities at some good ol' fashioned hands-on engineering. Tonight I got just such an opportunity.
These are the moments that give me a sense of accomplishment and progress! I've been feeling a little behind on my project because I have not had one of these checkpoints recently. I don't really have a strict schedule because I do these projects in my free time, but it is hard to keep to a project that does not feel like it is going anywhere. Now I feel like I'm going somewhere! Hooray!
Now I have software, a power source, and a programming cable for the new PIC! I am closer to design mark 2 than ever. What this project really needs is a distinct name. That's on the to-do list. I'm very particular about names. I tried for the last 15-ish minutes to come up with a name, and none were satisfactory. Perhaps I'll have one in my next post. Until then, fare well, internet!
