It Compiles! OR How I learned to stop worrying and love forums

Victory! I have compiled the sample code intended to drive the USB portion of project FLIER. It took quite a bit of fanangling, but it is done. Aaaaaaaah yeeeeeeah. It would not have been possible without the lovely people over at the Microchip forums.

Ideally when compiling sample code there should not be any errors. As an engineer, I know that things never behave ideally. In this instance I was using a micro-controller not intended to be supported by the sample code. So, what do you do when you have code not work?

You fix it! After perusing the code for quite some time I realized that I did not have enough knowledge to fix it myself. USB is a difficult protocol to program, and I do not have any experience with PIC micro-controllers. So, what do you do when you can not do something yourself? Ask someone else! That is where the Microchip forums come in! Socrates said something to the effect of "The only true wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing." Sometimes deferring to the knowledge of others is the right choice. I hope that unlike the creationists on the US congressional science committees, we can all take that wisdom to heart.

Hopefully this week I can make time to adjust the code to fit my purposes.
